Call for Nominations for CCAPA Officers

The CCAPA Nominating Committee (Chris Smith, Don Poland and Linnea McCaffrey) has issued a call for nominations for the following Chapter Officer positions, with terms beginning October 1, 2015. Learn more about the Executive Board and these officer positions here.

  • President-elect – one-year term, followed by term as president for two years
  • Secretary – two-year term
  • Treasurer – two-year term

Members should submit nominations by June 4th.

CCAPA Awards Program & Planning Day at the Capitol

Emily HultquistOn Friday, May 15th, CCAPA held its Awards Program as a combined event with Planning Day at the Capitol. In marrying these two important events, we hoped to highlight the best planning work in our state and to engage and thank the legislators who spend their days making policies that guide the work we do.

As outstanding planning efforts in 2014, CCAPA recognized:

The CT Land Use Academy;
The Town of Waterford; and
The multi-media, multi-disciplinary exhibit, “Sub-Urbanisms” on casino urbanization and suburban Chinatowns

We were pleased to welcome Senator Paul Formica and Representative Kathleen McCarty, serving the 20th and 38th Districts respectively, both of which include the Town of Waterford. The Senator and Representative read a special citation recognizing Waterford’s CCAPA Award for an Innovative Plan.

In addition to the Chapter Awards, representatives of CCAPA, the CT Main Street Center and the Connecticut Economic Development Association will discuss proposed Tax Increment Financing legislation.  Presentations were made by Jana Roberson, CCAPA Government Relations Chair, John O’Toole, CEDAS Board Member and Michael Andreana, Esq., Attorney, Pullman & Comley, LLC.  Click Here to learn more about SB 677, the CCAPA sponsored Tax Increment Financing legislation.
