FAICP
Election to Fellow in AICP is one of the highest honors that the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP)
bestows upon a member. This honor is in recognition of the achievements of the planner as an individual, elevating
the Fellow before the public and the profession as a model planner who has made significant contributions to planning
and society.
Connecticut is graced with a number of professional planners who could meet the criteria for election as Fellow.
Yet, only several Connecticut planners have been inducted in the College of Fellows out of 300 nationwide. CCAPA
invites its member planners to participate in the nomination process to honor those who are worthy of this recognition.
Procedures
The following procedures have been established by the Chapter to facilitate this process:
- Obtain and review the FAICP Nomination Guidelines and Nomination Form at http://www.planning.org/faicp/faicp.htm.
Due to recent changes in the process by AICP, nominations, and the award of Fellowships in AICP will occur once every
two years. The next round will commence in 2007. New Guidelines and Forms are expected to be posted at that time.
- Recommendations for nominations and letters of interest from potential candidates shall be submitted to the
CCAPA for its sponsorship before June 30 for possible submission to APA in November of that year. Submit to PDO
John D. Pagini AICP at pagini@charter.net.
- The CCAPA Executive Committee will select a candidate or candidates for submission at its next monthly meeting,
and will notify all those who made recommendations for nominations or submitted letters of interest of its decision.
- Any candidate so nominated and accepted must commit to fulfilling the submission requirements set down in
the Guidelines, and the Chapter must fulfill its review and documentation responsibilities. Deadline is October 1.
- APA will notify the Chapter and the candidate of its decision.
- Induction takes place at the National Planning Conference following notification.
